Artist Talk: The Theremin in Contemporary Art Practice, Maker Education Salon: Spring Edition,

Mozilla Hive Lab Vancouver, March 3.

2015 started out nice and easy with several artist talks in Vancouver. I had the pleasure to visit my old alma mater, Emily Carr University of Art + Design, to speak to the senior Integrated Media Arts class in January. It was a good experience for me to share my career so far, since my graduation, and to encourage students in opportunities available to them upon their graduation. I emphasized the importance of time management, networking, stepping stones to artist run centres and the role of integrated media in community engagement.

In March, I was asked to give a talk, on behalf of the Vancouver Experimental Theremin Orchestra (VETO), to Mozilla Hive Lab's Maker Education Salon. I delivered the talk 'The Theremin in Contemporary Art Practice', to a packed house of educators and maker enthusiasts, highlighting artists who use the 1920-invented instrument as a componant in their projects.
