I have the pleasure of leading a BC Arts Council funded mentorship through VIVO Media Arts Centre through the month of November, with a one night show at the conclusion, the first week of December.
With the support of BC Arts Council and VIVO, I will be doing a lecture/discussion style presentation, reviewing portfolios and cvs and assisting artists in conceiving and carrying out producer duties for creating their own exhibition. In addition, I have asked local emerging artists, Matt Troy and Vincent Parker to stop by and present as guest speakers, along with senior artist Crista Dahl, who will be giving a tour of the Crista Dahl Media Library & Archive at VIVO Media Arts Centre.
This will be a rather cathartic experience for me, as it will be the culmination of my knowledge from education and work experience as a professional graphic designer/photographer, interdisciplinary artist, curator and producer over the past 25 years. I'm quite excited to share my experiences, as it is my hope to introduce and educate emerging artists to the world of professional art and business, and to ensure a sense of confidence for a smooth transition.
While I'm still working on my presentation, I'm finding that I am adding more and more, realizing the volume of information that I need to cover as basics!
Since this mentorship is a BC Arts Council Youth Engagement Grant through VIVO, we will be accepting submissions to this FREE mentorship for emerging artists 18-24yrs. old ONLY.
